Electric Bus Service Launching Soon in Another District of Punjab

The wait for eco-friendly public transport is nearly over as the Punjab government confirms the arrival of electric buses by the end of 2025. This development is part of the province-wide initiative to modernize public transport and reduce environmental pollution.

Key Highlights of the Electric Bus Project

• Expected launch date: December 2025

• Number of buses: At least 28 allocated in the upcoming rollout

• Proposed routes:

  • City to Lalamusa

  • City to Jalalpur Jattan

  • City to Mungowal

  • City to Daulat Nagar

These routes are planned to cover areas with the highest demand, making travel easier for daily commuters.

Major Investment & Infrastructure

The Punjab Transport Department has announced an investment of over Rs. 16 billion to support this project:

• Rs. 7.5 billion for advanced charging stations

• Rs. 8.5 billion for bus procurement

With this investment, the province aims to ensure a smooth rollout and a reliable charging system to back the new buses.

Regional Bus Distribution

In this phase, multiple districts are set to benefit. Here’s how buses will be allocated:

• Gujranwala: 88 buses

• Sialkot: 45 buses

• Another District: 28 buses

• Hafizabad: 16 buses

• Mandi Bahauddin: 12 buses

• Narowal: 7 buses

• Wazirabad: 7 buses
